In discussing how we could make our customers’ shopping experience the best it can be, we came to the topic of children.  (We all have ‘em and we all love ‘em!)  We have had some instances where unsupervised children have caused damages to our beautiful shop and disrupted classes as well as caused some of our shoppers and social knitters to evacuate.  To avoid these situations from recurring in the future, we respectfully ask our customers with small children that if they must bring them to the shop, please keep them in hand while shopping.  To our customers who have been doinig this up to date, thank you so much!

Finally, our first event of 2012!  Get those needles and hooks moving for our second annual Valentine’s Day scarf exchange to be held on February 11th at 2:00 in the afternoon!  Everyone who brings a scarf takes one home!  Fun times!

We look forward to seeing you all in the new year.  Keep checking the website for updates, classes, and special events, as well as storm induced closures.  (that is if we GET storms this winter!!)

There have been some questions as to whether or not the SOS sessions will still be run.  YES!  Rita will be available Tuesday afternoons from 4 to 6.  Those SOS sessions are great for those heavy duty question/problems and for just $5.00, you get Rita for up to two hours!!   Also keep checking our online class schedule as we will continue to post new classes as they become available.  And please, keep those suggestions coming!  We have a notebook by the front desk for you to jot things down in, or you can shoot us an email, or just talk to one of us about it!

Aside from that important happening, we are expecting lovely new fall yarns and have some beautiful rovings in our fiber loft as well as spinning wheels. For all you spinners and those who are interested in spinning, Knit Unique has just received a shipment from Schacht of more Ladybug wheels (yay!) as well as the Sidekick wheel.   Knit Unique now offers beautiful needle felting kits and supplies and needlpoint kits.  We also have books, books, books!  (And more on the way!)

For all of you who have been patiently waiting, the new shipment of Triana has arrived!  It is beautiful and has a strand of gold metallic running through to add a little holiday (or everyday!) shine!

We continue to offer regular knitting and drop spindle classes and are very happy to say that we will be offering crochet classes again very soon!  Lessons on the spinning wheel are offered privately as needed.  Would anyone be interested in a group spinning lesson?  Let us know about any classes you would like to see on our schedule.

Some other new books that have been unboxed and shelved recently inclued:  Scary Cute, Knit Wit, Knitting Mochi Mochi, Itty Bitty animals, as well as a new shipment of 60 Quick Baby Knits from Cascade.  Top Down for Toddlers in another new hit on our hands.  Cute patterns and no seaming!  Books on bags, books on flip flop embellishing, books on critters, books on spinning, books on felting, books on crochet, the list goes on and on!

As far as new yarns in the shop, for all you fans of the Triana, we have received from Universal Yarns, a yarn VERY similar and in beautiful colors!  We have been advised that the Triana should hit us mid August.  New shiney sparkly yarn was just put on the shelf today as well!

We will still be hosting Tuesday night Knit Night, and are looking forward to seeing all of your summer projects.  In addition, we will still be holding Friday afternoon ‘Knit in the Afternoon’ every Friday from 1 – 3.  Come in and knit, crochet, or spin in the company of fellow fiber lovers!

We have some great classes planned for summer and include beginning knitting in the form of wristers and dishcloths, Rita’s slip stitch hat and lace socks, Peggy’s earflap hat, and Dani’s Introduction to Drop Spindle.  Come in and see our class samples and sign up!  If there is a class you are desperate to take, let us know and we will do our best to get it on our schedule.  And don’t forget, we do have private lessons available at your convenience.

While you are knitting through the rainy weather we have been having, we would like you to be thinking of ideas for the Crazy Hat Contest at Knit Unique in the fall!  Get those creative juices flowing and let’s see what we can come up with!  We have had knitters already coming up with ideas, but never fear, we have a confidentiality clause which  states that we will not divulge anyone’s plans to any other Crazy Hat contestant!  We have not set a date thus far, any suggestions?

In the mean time, we have had new shipments nearly every day, keeping up the tradition of not letting our poor UPS man get any breaks!  You have to see the beautiful new spinning wheels from Schacht and Kromski as well as the drop spindles from Cascade Spindle.  Beautiful equipment and finely made.  Also spinning accessories and roving, roving, roving!!  Beautiful dyed and undyed wools and blends.  Come check out the Fiber Loft!

The new spring and summer yarns that have been flowing in are absolutely amazing and most of them are on the shelf now, along with the latest shipment of needles, books, and patterns.  Several copies of the much sought after book ‘Hip Knit Hats’ have arrived, so if you have been waiting on that, wait no longer!
